It's in the mail

The nursing student in me cries to get up from the computer, but the creative monster in me can't stop typing.

Where We Stand

I can't believe how flippin' crappy I feel! Stupid whatever it was that made me sick! Perhaps Aspartame can kill me...

I watched Anderson Cooper on Oprah today. I have to say that I think he is one of the most amazing guys around today. Oh, by the way, they are highlighted so you can go directly to their websites. Anderson's is his blog which I LOVE! He just seems so down to Earth and normal! He even called a girl Meagan knew one time 'cause her roommate emailed him. WHO ELSE DOES THAT?! Anyway, the real point of my constant babbling is that I have spent a lot of time lately thinking about people who have accomplished much more than myself around this age. Everyone from Meagan, who has a MASTERS in archaeology (regardless of current employment status!), Kevin, who has been to many places around the globe I may never see, and Andria, who will be married and living in jolly old England by the end of the summer to Martin Luther King Jr who helped begin the civil rights movement at 26 and newcomer to my list, Mr Anderson Cooper. At age 23 he wound up filming himself with a little hand-held camera in Somalia while being shot at by snipers. Why did he do this you may ask? Because he is fearless! Twenty-three years old and he is in the middle of a war zone! What a guy!

I had my hoorah send off from Curves tonight. Not many people showed, but it is a Tuesday night afterall. I am glad it was quick though, because I honestly thought I was going to faint. The pain in my stomach is unbelievable! I really am going to miss some of those girls though! Cindy just got her hair all cut off and looks so cute! I didn't tell her she looked cute I just told her it suited her nicely. Meagan never like being called cute... then she said she had come to terms with it so I wonder where she stands now...

Study Buddy

Tomorrow is my first test in about five years. Psychology. The study of individual human behaviours. Oooooooohh Sounds great, but I don't think it's the correct definition. Oh well. Today, instead of studying, I went curling in Dundas with Meagan and her mom. I didn't fall!! I also didn't kill anyone with a rock! We didn't win... well, we got the thanks-for-coming-out-and-giving-it-your-best-shot,-but-you-still-came-in-last award. We got to pick prizes which was fun! I chose a four pack of alcohol hee hee hee... And I won a great bag, which will look very professional when I pull my resume out of it. And a travel mug, which I always need! The ladies there were really nice, and I even recognized some of them from that little personal hell hole I like to call Curves.

After that little workout I hit the books. Well, book. I have one little tiny assignment left to do and then I am free to go to bed. It's a quarter ten now, so I am thinking I should be in bed by 11pm. Studying went really well for me, but I know come test time I will be full of self-doubt and uncertainty. I HATE MULTIPLE CHOICE! Some of this stuff is so hard though! Not even my study buddy could keep up!

Bull-headed meets Stubborn Ass

I don't know where to start!

Stereotype: an often over-simplified or biased mental picture held to characterize the typical individual or group.

That being said, I took an interesting journey with my dad into Buffalo New York today. It was an adventure filled with printing presses, a carcass, an embarassing mistake, political commentary, opinions on todays school system, and yes, the United States of America vs Canada.

One of the greatest things about my dad is that he has an opinion on everything. The conversation can never get dull, because the two of us can't seem to find away to stray off of a topic without igniting another hour-long debate/discussion about the current state of things.

It would be far too long for me to put in everything about the newspaper world in action, the cleanliness of American highways, the stick-shift incident, the minority Conservative Government, George Bush, lack of OAC and its impact on post secondary education, and the lack of patriotism shown by Canada as a country in general so I am going to leave it at this:

Conversation: the spoken exchange of thoughts, opinions, and feelings; talk

I can't wait for another adventure... I hope without incident...

Wordlessness becomes a bad case of typing diarrhea

I really don't know what to write... I have so much school work I need to do, but I really don't know where to start.

I have visions of behaviourism and neurons dancing in my head, and I don't think they will be turning into sugarplums anytime soon.

I am so proud of myself!!! I totally transferred Lindsay (my fake patient with left side weakness) from her hospital bed to her wheelchair without being taught by my teacher!! She doesn't seem to teach a lot... anyway, I did it so perfectly and even Lindsay said that is when she felt safest!

I am starting to get concerned about feeding the elderly though... What if my patient chokes?!? I am so excited about my scrubs, doling out meds and generally getting into the whole thing, but now I have this small seed of self doubt... The whole cost of this program and now a seed of self doubt... DAMMIT!

I just love Dancing with the Stars! It makes me want to learn to dance as much as GBS makes me want to learn to play the guitar. Perhaps now is not the time. I miss bowling. I went with Kevin, Meagan, Mike T, and Michelle. I was sooo bad, but I did discover Kevin is totally into the 'art' of bowling photography. Some of his samples are available here (can you guess which ones are his?), but his show "Out of the Gutter" doesn't premiere in New York for a few more months.

I have to say I am starting to become one of those 'tradition' people. I now have a 24 tradition with Meagan and Kevin. We get together, make dinner and watch 24. Needless to say I get no homework done during this time! Okay... maybe it's not a tradition yet... We have only actually had dinner twice, but we always get together for the show. Here is a photo of Meagan whipping spaghetti like nobodies business! I was a little shocked to admit she didn't know you could whip pasta at the wall to see if it was done.... Doesn't everyone know that?

Cause & Effect vs Money Tree Season

Well well well, it took a matter of moments and a the perfect amount of stupidity to ruin four years of hardwork. I may or may not have said in the past about how much I hate stupidity, but there is something I have come to hate more... It's called a complete and utter lack of common sense and consideration. There are many people in the world that possess neither the ability to use common sense on a regular basis, nor the ability to comprehend what consideration means. People on Earth tend to forget there is a necessity to display these two traits on a regular basis. For some people it is quite hard so let me spell it out...

REALIZE WHAT YOU DO AFFECTS OTHER PEOPLE!

It's called 'cause and effect' you cowardly bastards! Look it up!

On a happier note, Meagan made great cookies for my babies! Farley gobbled his up nice and quick... well, quick for him as he is cautious of anything new. Charmin almost bit my finger off trying to get her cheese cookie as fast as she could. Meagan makes fantastic dog cookies! I think she should package and sell them, but I think she has other things on her mind. Trying to find a job really does suck. What if I can't find one? Where will the money come from? It's not money tree season!!!!

Okay, okay I'm sorry... happy... happy... 96.7 on my reading test baby! Boorah!!! I rule in school!!!!!

A LOTTERY

I think the mail has gone strange. I suddenly receieve four tickets to a focused showing of not-yet aired television material, and a letter from Saturn asking me to to give up three months of my car and get a new one. Funny how the Canadian Postal System works! I have to decide what to do with my car. She is my first baby. My before Charmin baby. My first non-breathing baby. What's a girl to do? A good win in the lottery would solve that problem! My lottery list ofcourse includes a new car for myself, Charmin and Farley. Andria, Meagan and Kevin are right at the top along with my family. I could be out of debt in no time! I wouldn't have to work while I was in school! Farley and Charmin could have a backyard all to themselves! No more sharing with the devil dogs from the land below! I could buy my parents an Egg & I, and make sure Tim was out of debt... no Jesse... don't go there. My grandparents would never have to worry about ending up in some nursing home. They could get round the clock nurses and support staff when and if that time ever came. My car would be a hybrid. Something environmentally friendly, and I would fund research so they could work on making cars run on... on... cow pee. We will never run out of cow pee. Would people from India use it though? Hmmmmm... religious and cultural things to consider before I put this plan in place. Nonnie could get lyposuction! No more feeling like the fat one! Pippin could get her very own mouse maze.... maybe that's a little sick, but who cares!?! I won the lottery dammit!

I mean... I will win the lottery... eventually...

Bomb Driver

What is a 'Provincial Reconstruction Team' anyway? Why do we still have troops in Afghanistan? We may very well have lost three more young men to a suicidal maniac driving a car full of ammunition. Ofcourse he was blown to pieces Mr Wahidi! He was driving a bomb! I guess some terrorists, rebels, or whatever they are calling themselves these days are applauding Qari Mohammad Yusuf and the Taliban for carrying out such a stupid and ridiculously non-sensical act against not only Canadian troops but Afghanistan's own people as well.

Not only will violence continue around the world whether we are there or not, but newer and more efficient ways to carry out that violence appears more and more.

Funny how we don't hear much about Afghanistan now that the liberation is over. I guess people need to move on to bigger and better things... Unless ofcourse there is blood involved... I am sure every major Canadian news channel will have this story tonight. I wonder if the politicians running for office have forgotten about our men and women in Afghanistan?

As for the American news channels covering the bomb driver? I suppose that depends on how many people died in Iraq today.

Long time!

Long time for a lot of things! Since I have been a student for one thing! Please feel free to applaud, but I would much prefer the throwing of non-perishable food items!! It's been a long time since I have been this fundless. Without the very very nice and wonderful support of my family I would not be able to eat let alone pay almost one thousand dollars for textbooks in just a few days. I bought a paperback novel sized math book for $29.50 + tax.

It has been a long time since I was happily surrounded by friends. Meagan and Kevin both returned home and now we can actually fo stuff together! Not anything that requires money ofcourse!

It has been a long time since I had to study! Since when did we have to do six hours of homework per class per night??

It has been a long time since I was in bed by 9:30pm.

It has been a long time since I watched a show for the first time, half way through a season, fifteen minutes to go until the end of the show, that so completely captivated me I didn't get to bed by 9:30pm.

Oh Merry just called it a Jesus stick! What a great show!

I have just spent the last four hours reading about communicating with patients and medical asepsis and doing activities related to them both.

It's been a long time since felt this proud of myself!

Tragedy

I was beyond elated to learn that 12 of the 13 miners trapped in West Virginia were alive and had been rescued! My heart broke to learn there had been a mistake. Only one miner was alive and 12 were dead. Can you imagine being told a trapped loved one was alive only to watch rescuers haul their body from the mine? Initial reports state there were 'miscues' which wound up delaying the rescue. What the hell is the matter with people? Just save the people! Do whatever you need to do and get the job done!!!

West Virginia

I am hoping the miners trapped in a mine in West Virginia have in fact found an air pocket to stay in. 13 men trapped by an explosion...

I can't imagine it at all.

I can only hope that they make it out alright and are healthy and can spend time with their family.

And those people in Germany who do not know the fate of their children! I am confused as to why figure skaters were told not to skate, but the public was not warned about the roof over the rink. I bet I am not the only one who is confused...

And in Canada... it's almost time to vote.

Oh goody.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

2005 is now a distant memory! I think the best word to describe last year is... stressful. There is good stress and bad stress so it seems fitting.

Last new years was so anti-climatic, but this year was definitely different. Kevin, Daisy, Meagan and I all hit Niagara Falls for Spirit of the West and Great Big Sea. Okay, so I only went for Great Big Sea, but Spirit was great! I was so excited for Kevin to see GBS for the first time! It wasn't too cold either which helped a lot. I do need to know though... why do people bring lawn chairs to concerts then sit in the middle where everyone dances? Sit off to the side people!!! Great job to GBS though!!!

I hope 2006 is both tamer and more exciting than 2005!!

School starts Friday!
